Around 7 p.m., Thursday, April 8, a concerned citizen notified the Danbury Police Department of a possible body submerged in a retention pond at the entrance of 55 Mill Plain Road in Danbury.
Responding officers confirmed the report and summoned police investigators, who were assisted by members of the Danbury Police Department Dive Team and the Danbury Fire Department, said Danbury Police Det. Lt. Mark Williams.
Upon removal from the pond, the body was determined to be an adult, white male, Willams said.
While the state medical examiner has not yet determined the cause of death, preliminary investigation and examination of the remains conducted by a death investigator did not reveal apparent signs of trauma, Williams added.
This incident is currently under investigation by the Danbury Police Detective Bureau, who is awaiting the results of a thorough examination of the body to determine the male's identity and cause of death.
